Woodside Research Facility
Since its inception in 1999, the WRF has been one of the great success stories in the Australian Oil and Gas industry research.
The success began with the Synthetic Natural Gas Hydrate project that made scientific TV headlines worldwide, followed by the Cryo-Cell technology that was given national recognition by winning two prestigious innovation awards: the Eureka prize in August 2002 for Outstanding Engineering Innovation and the B-HERT award for Outstanding Achievement in Collaborative Research in October the same year. The Cryo-Cell technology has led to the formation of the spin off company Cool Energy.
These projects attracted the attention of Shell Global Solutions which is now a joint funding partner for the projects with Woodside Energy Ltd.
